Last night I had a tough one at the festival. Up to now, every encounter has either been fairly typical, if not actually magical. But tonight I had a tough one. A little boy and his little sister sat on my lap. Dad was with them and Gary took the pictures. I noticed a woman in a motorized wheelchair several minutes earlier and had waived to her. Now I found out that it was their mom...
Me: Now, why don't you tell me what you would like for Christmas?!? Boy: Well, I would like some Legos, but what I really want is for my mother to be able to walk again and get up out of her wheelchair. Me: I see. Well, son, that is a beautiful wish and I wish for that, too. But you see, there is a limit to my magic. There are some things that I simply can not do and that's one of them. You see, only god can work miracles. BUT, you have magic of your own that could help your mother in a different way. Boy: Really? Me: Oh yeah! And it's more powerful than any magic I have, I'll tell you! You see, as long as you love your mother with all of your heart and help her every way that you can every chance that you get and keep showing her how much you love her, well her heart will fill with so much joy that she won't be able to contain it all and maybe she'll feel happy and fulfilled. And love...well, that's the best kind of magic there is! Okay? Boy: Okay! Me: Good! Then I'll see what I can do about the Legos and some other stuff for you!
